Advertising class promotes GreenWeek

Table

Students in Adjunct Instructor Kyle Robinson’s ADV 314 Sales, Promotion and Marketing class played a significant role in SDSU’s GreenWeek.  The class worked with the Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability Council (ESSC) to plan the event.  The students worked on multiple aspects including:

  • Hosting a booth on the Union’s Main Street both Monday and Friday
  • Working to get student/faculty signatures for the Sustainability Pledge
  • Reaching out to colleges and departments to encourage involvement
  • Recruiting professors to give talks on sustainability
  • Recruiting groups to display “green” information on Main Street booths
  • Designing and distributing printed material
  • Conducting radio announcements through SDSU and Brookings
  • Promoting through the Wellness Center, fraternities, Honors College, and other groups
  • Advertising at Arbor Day 5K run
  • Creating social media & videos

As a class project, they presented how event planning, integrated marketing communications, and public relations play a role in GreenWeek.

The advertising major is located in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
