A new virtual world opened up in Yeager Hall in 2012.YEAGER-MEDIA-CENTER-6669

The new Yeager Media Center is a high-definition production facility and live TV studio. Virtual set technology incorporates on-camera talent in front of a green screen into a huge virtual world all in real time.

The Yeager Media Center is a service center that operates on a client basis, according to its coordinator, Lowell Haag. He notes, “Clients come to us with a need and we bring the experience we have to provide them with a product that they desire.”

The Yeager Media Center  has three major clients:
• “On Call,” a medical program that airs at 7 p.m. Thursdays on South Dakota Public Broadcasting;
• “Jackrabbit Insider,” a weekly look at SDSU athletics that airs at 10:30 p.m. Sundays on KTTW-Fox and at 6 p.m. Tuesdays on Fox Sports North; and
• iGrow, podcasts and other informational media for SDSU Extension.

The media center hires students to work client’s productions and offers hands-on experience with cameras, record decks and teleprompters. These jobs help students graduate with real-world experience, Haag says.
